THE CRAFT OF GREAT WINE
We’ve been in the Barossa for over a century and we come from a great tradition of winemaking.
THE HISTORY
We’ve been in the Barossa for over a century and we come from a great tradition of winemaking.
Jacob’s Creek is rooted in 170 years of winemaking tradition, which began when Johann Gramp planted his first vineyard on the banks of Jacob’s Creek in 1847. In doing so, Johann founded the Gramp & Sons winery and began a history of winemaking innovation that continues today.
Discover where it all started
In 1840, when William Jacob settled on a small piece of land next to an unnamed creek, he would have never dreamed that it would one day become an icon of Australian wine, known around the world. Since then, our wine has been produced along its banks across the Barossa, created to reflect the true character of the grapes and the land.

OUR CREEK
Jacob’s Creek is a small creek which runs through the heart of the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Over the years we’ve looked after the creek, preserving its natural beauty because it’s as important to us as it is to the land.

OUR ENVIRONMENT
We make our home in some of Australia’s most iconic wine regions, and we have been awarded for our strong commitment to preserving the environment we work in. Find out more about our sustainability and preservation projects.

OUR VITICULTURIST TEAM
Our Viti team take their job very seriously. As they should – it’s here that the whole process starts, and it’s their decisions that not only affect the next vintage but perhaps the vintages for generations to come.
Together with our growers, they manage all aspects of vine health and grape quality including irrigation (ensuring the vines are watered sufficiently but not too much); canopy management (ensuring the vines have enough leaves to shade the grapes yet allow full ripening) and bunch weight (ensuring the vines have enough grapes but not too many) during the growing season. After harvest they get a short respite before managing the vine pruning decisions in the winter.
Battling the elements and the quirks of Mother Nature, our viticulture team are the key to ensuring the grapes that go into every bottle of Jacob’s Creek are the best they can be.
